Linux Window Screen Capture to OCR to Text:
So I wanted a tool that allow me to read my screen into an Optical Character Recognition program and then into my clipboard. With the wonderful world of Linux I’m able to string the commands together like this:import ppm:- | gocr -i - | xclip -selection c
import - http://www.imagemagick.org/script/index.php lets you capture a window selection
gocr - http://jocr.sourceforge.net/ reads the contents of the image
xclip - http://sourceforge.net/projects/xclip/ clipboard manipulation
Made it a nice little script.
Assigned to keyboard shortcut.
Thanks to the three programs I now can do something possibly not envisioned by their original creators.
